           The British and American Constutions

An article that is written by Ananya Ramesh in The Summer of 2016

The British and American constitution have one thing in common, they both are bodies of
fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state (or in this case a country) is governed by (as according to Oxford Dictionaries). In America, all americans rights are stated in the United Sates Constitution and the Amendments (along with a couple of other documents that are not as well known) these state the things that every American can do, but there are somethings that are part of those rights that are NOT allowed-for instance:

-All Americans have the right to have Fire Arms, however buildings can choose if they want to allow people to bring them inside a building.

-People have the right to say whatever they want ,but they are not allowed to say things that go against other rights that people have. For example, the owner of a building, for arguments sake, lets say a library, you cannot say that gay people or  are not allowed to enter because that goes against one of the rules in another one of those not-well-known documents.

An Americans rights are completely defined in a written constituition which is mostly the only documents that is reffered to when talking about written rights.

However  The British Constitution is very different than the American Constitution . First, the British Constitution is unwritten and the foundation of the British Constitution scince after the Glorious Revolution of 1688 has commonly been described as Parliamentary Sovereignty which is a principle of UK Constitution which makes parliament the supreme legal authority of the UK which can create or end any law/rule  and no parliament can pass a law that a future parliament cannot change .

In the United State's Constitution, it takes a very long time to create even longer time for you to change a law in the constitution or to take a law out. that makes the two countries ways of governing very different.

The United states and parliaments have the same end result of making aws, in the united states we will think a lot about the laws and if it affects the community in a good or bad way so we rarely have to change the laws which is good because it takes a long time to change a law in the United States also.

But , in Britain the laws, are made faster and Parliament does not take as much time to think about the laws compared to the United States Congress. But, it also takes less time to erase a law so, if Parliament finds that a law is not doing the desired goal in the community where the law has been passed, then Parlament can just as quickly take away the law as it did in making it.

But, the reason that (in my opinion) the United States way of creating laws is better because in Britain if the law does not work, Parliament could have been occupied with some other matter and might not have time to take away the law, which is bad for the community that has the law.

Though in the United States, Congress thinks so much about the laws that most of the time, they do not have to everse it which is better because the community is not faced with the burden of laws tat congress has passed which are unfair.

Some other differences between the U.S and the UK law making system are :

-In the United States , if you join congress, then you can stay there for as long as you like, but in Britain, if you are a member of Parliament then you can be a member for 1,2,3,4, or 5 years as a max.

     - In Congress, members have more individuality than they do in parliament and you are able to vote your opinion more commonly

     - In Congress, the to parts are The House of Representatives and the Senate.  In Parliament the two parts are The House of Lords and The House of Commons.

in my opinion, the us has a better constitution because it is simpler and is easier to refer to but conveys a just idea of a constitution.

that is my essay
